So I mentioned earlier that I spent some of my birthday money on a straightening iron for my crazy, curly hair. So I took it out of the package a little while ago and was reading the little instruction booklet that came with it, and one of the instructions was "Do not use while sleeping."

I nearly fell off the couch laughing, and then I thought to myself...THE FREAK?!?! Okay, like, I have talked in my sleep, and I have walked in my sleep, but I have never styled my hair in my sleep!! Is that even POSSIBLE?

Just when you think you've heard it all......

I'm on the run right now....running everywhere all over town...and I needed to stop for a second and catch my breath until I have to start running again. WHEW!

Took Jacob to the dentist first thing this morning, and had to fill out like 3 pages front and back, all the while Jacob is trying to grab the pen and scribble with it on the forms. ALL of that just to go back to the dentist chair for the dentist to look in Jacob's mouth and write out a referral card for a PEDIATRIC dentist. Dumb. Waste of time, energy, life, etc. So now I have to make an appointment with a dentist that can actually TREAT his problem.

Then I went to the bank to cash in on my birthday money. Money is good.

Then we went to Target because I wanted to use some of my birthday money to buy a straightening iron. I also had some money set aside for the kids' birthdays, so I bought Jacob's birthday stuff while I was in there, too.

Then we went to Payless, which is right next door to Target, to return some shoes I'd bought for Jacob in Dyersburg, which turned out not to fit.

Then we went to Walmart to do our grocery shopping, came home, unloaded and put away everything, and now I'm waiting on my sis-in-law, Terri, to call me, because she's had Travis since yesterday evening (he went to church with her and spent the night at her house), and we're supposed to meet up at the McDonald's in Olive Branch for lunch and watch Travis play (and not eat) on the playground thingy. It's the only freakin' McDonald's in northern DeSoto County that HAS a big playground. Who knows why? There USED to be one at the Southaven McDonald's on Stateline, but that McDonald's is now in McDonald's heaven. I get weepy every time I think about that place being torn down now, so I won't go there.

Oh, and the conclusion of my birthday...it turned out really well. I got a card and some money from my mom-in-law, a card from my other sis-in-law Wanda (she usually gives me like an Old Navy gift card or something, but not this year...just a card with nothing in it), and Michael gave me a beautiful, sweet card and a really nice set from Bath & Body Works with lots of smelly good stuff and a candle. Yummy. Then we went to church, and afterwards he took me to Applebee's. Actually, it's funny because at first we didn't know how we were going to have money to go eat out last night, but I remembered that I found our "new" debit card when I was cleaning out Michael's closet the other day. (Actually they sent it to us over a year ago, but it got shoved in a box with a bunch of papers, and the box got shoved in Michael's closet, but hey, it's new to me!) What's even more funny is that it just has MY name on it, and after we ate and the waiter brought us our ticket, Michael asked me for the debit card since it was in my wallet, so I gave it to him, and I was like "Hmmm...you are paying for my birthday supper with a debit card that has my name on it, but you are the one that makes all the money and deposits it all in there." SCARY THOUGHT!

ANYWAY, I need to get ready to GO AGAIN, because I'm sure my phone will be ringing just any minute now!!! (I miss Travis!)

This is MY BIRTHDAY, dang it, so someone tell me WHY I'm spending it on the freaking phone with some of the people you dread talking to the most, i.e. debt collectors, doctors offices, etc.

I really don't want to waste any more of my day giving the full details as to what happened, but basically it took me over an hour to find a pediatric dentist that takes Jacob's insurance AND will see a child his age. After explaining Jacob problems about 15 times, I got someone to talk to a doctor and make a special exception to see Jacob. FINALLY!

So all is well that ends well.

Now let's see how the REST of the day goes. IS IT OVER YET?!?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR CANDY...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

YAY! Today is my 24th birthday. But for some reason it doesn't feel much like my birthday. I've gotten a couple e-mails from a few people I didn't expect to remember my birthday, so thanks. And Michael said "Happy Birthday" to me first thing this morning, and one of Michael's sisters called me to tell me Happy Birthday, but other than that, no one else has remembered, or at least let me KNOW they remembered today. I mean, I realize my parents gave me a party on Saturday (4 days before my actual birthday), but STILL...you would think my Mom wouldn't forget the day she gave birth to me. Of course then again, she's at work right now, so maybe she'll call me later on this afternoon. I guess my whole point is that usually I wake up feeling kind of EXCITED on my birthday...but not really today. Is it because I'm getting old and I've reached that point in life where the only birthdays that are significant are 30, 40, and 50? When I was a little kid, every birthday from 1 to 21 was a HUGE DEAL. But now...geez, I guess 25 will be something to look forward to because the car insurance will go down some. Dang, I still can't even believe my sister turned 30 last month...30!!!! 30 is SO YOUNG to a 40 year old, but to a 24 year old, 30 seems OLD!! My Dad turned 56 this year, which means he's inching closer and closer to 60. And my mom turned 50 last September, so everyone just seems to be getting older in a FLASH. Birthdays used to come around a lot slower...what's up with THAT???

So anyway, I expressed my birthday concerns to Michael this morning, and he tried to say "Well, that's because it's the middle of the week" and I'm like "So?? That's never changed anything before." So I pretty much have no explanation for my birthday woes. I mean, I'm excited about being 24 now in stead of 23, and I guess no one else is, so that might explain it. Oh well. I guess I'll go buy myself a present.

I think I hear Jacob trying to stir, so I don't have long to write, although I have several things to write about.

The birthday party went great. My mom had lots of food and she made my favorite stuff. We had BBQ, my mom's secret recipe baked beans, pistachio salad (you know, the green stuff with marshmallows, crushed pineapples, cool whip, nuts, and pistachio jello mix?), a huge Chik-Fil-A nugget tray, chips and dips out the wazoo, and of course a homemade burfday cake. Thanks mom! :) We had everything outside on the deck (at my parent's house), at least until the storm started blowing in and the wind got crazy. So we all made a mad dash into the house with cake and paper plates and ice cream, and then we opened presents inside. I gave my dad a DVD, and my parents gave me some money, and then my sister gave me a shirt from Old Navy and a cool double-ended lip gloss thingy. Then my sis and her family loaded up in the car to go home JUST in the nick of time because THAT is when the rain starting pouring down and then we lost the signal on Direct TV. (Michael and I were THINKING about getting Direct TV because it's cheaper than Time Warner, but NOT ANYMORE! I guess you get what you pay for?) So we (me and Michael and our kids) waited out the rain shower at my parents house and just chatted and Travis played.

Then Sunday was Sunday. I covered all the music, morning and evening. Nothing really out of the ordinary. I love our church, though. Did I mention that already?

Now...onto some more dreams I had over the last two nights. The first one, which I had Saturday night, isn't nearly as interesting or scary as the one I had LAST night. But the first one was basically about me going to a nursing home to visit some old man...he was a war veteran. Well, this old man was kept in a private mental ward or something, and the nurse that let me in to see him told me to be careful and that if I needed help and the guy went crazy on me, to yell for help. Well, the man started out all calm, and told me he had a "story to tell" and that he really needed to get this story out in the open. But then I told him that I really didn't have a lot of time to hear the whole story, so the old man grabbed me by the arms, squeezing them really hard, and shaking me. So I screamed for the nurse to come help get this guy off of me, but as soon as the doors opened, it was like flipping a switch...the old man was back to normal. So I left. But the WEIRD part is, after I left, I was outside, on the street, not knowing how I was going to get home, and everyone I asked for help or directions just looked at me like I was out of my mind, and then I woke up.

Now the dream I had LAST NIGHT, it was definitely something I could see in a movie, and it scared me SO BAD!! I dreamed I was at my parents house, and I was outside in the front yard. Well these two Japanese man approached me, and they wanted some information from me or something, not really sure, and they were trying to capture me. So finally I said, "Okay, the information you really want is out in my car...if you'll just give me my keys back, I'll go get it for you." So the stupid Japanese thugs gave me my keys, and my car was parked out on the street, so of course as soon as I got in, I started up the car and sped away! DUH!! So I turned right onto Swinnea Road and sped up, and there was a lot of traffic, for some reason, and I was dodging cars, and kept looking in my rearview mirror, but saw that no one was following me, so I drove to my sisters house and asked her to let me in. So we ran to one of the back rooms of her house, to hide, and I tried to tell her what had happened, because obviously I was freaked out, breathing really hard, and while I was trying to tell my sister everything, we heard the voices of the Japanese dudes. What was weird was that the room we were in had this wall with a window, except there was no glass in it...it was just a rectangle hole in the wall, with a sheer curtain hanging in it, and the Japanese guys started asking my sister some questions, and of course she lied to them for me, that she hadn't seen me, but the whole time I was standing right there and it was as if they couldn't see me at first. But then they DID see me, and they shot me in the head with some kind of gun that shot me with a drug that put me to sleep. It hurt really bad at first, and the one that shot me with it even said "Did that hurt? Here, let me give you something else." And then he shot me in the thigh with the same thing, and then I passed out, and then I woke up in my bed...WHEW!!!!!

Well, I gotta run...Jacob is AWAKE, so more later!
