Okay, yeah, so I overslept this morning...by 2 hours!!! Yikes! What's with me? I mean, the clock did go off at 5:30. I hit the snooze button a couple times. But then I turned it completely off, with full intentions of getting up. What did I do? I closed my eyes for "5 more minutes", which turned into nearly 2 hours. I knew better than to close my eyes after completely shutting off the alarm, but I guess the fact that I was dog-tired and unmotivated, with a really good headache going, I gave into the temptation. I would've probably gotten ready to go, but by the time I showered, did hair, makeup, picked out clothes, got everything together, got Travis woke up, dressed, got his stuff together, got Jacob up, dressed, got his stuff together, it would probably be like 9:45 by the time I would actually get there, and then school gets out at 12, so yeah, it's not worth draining my gas tank for like 2 hours of pre-school. Maybe I have the wrong attitude, I don't know. I still love it that Travis gets to go to school out there. He's learning SO MUCH, and he loves it there, but somehow I feel like strain is being put on relationships that already existed between church friends, and since I'm so involved with the school, I'm not at all unattached from that...I'm smack in the middle of it. I have to keep reminding myself of the "big picture", why I'm really there, but my vision is being blurred by certain issues that are causing me to have a lot of resent. If I so much as express my feelings though, that makes me into a bad person. I just have to hold true to my desire to make sacrifices for Travis to go to school there, and trust me when I say I'm making plenty of them...probably more than anyone else that's sending their kids there. I guess I need to go to the eye doctor. The one good thing about oversleeping is that I'll actually get some much-needed things done around the house that have been neglected because I've been too busy with school. Clean the carpet, finish the laundry, clean my bedroom, the bathrooms, mop the kitchen, etc. Travis was such a big boy yesterday afternoon...he helped me dust the living room, his room, and the little table in the hallway. He's my big helper, so maybe he'll feel so inclined to help me today, too. :-)
Travis had his 1st field trip yesterday at Kidz Kountry, a petting farm in Southaven. The kids got to milk a goat, feed carrots to the rabbits, see some chickens sitting on their eggs, bottle feed a baby goat, feed a bunch of goats some bread, feed a 800lb. big named Wilbur, go on a pony ride, go on a hay ride, and pick a pumpkin. They had so much fun and I was able to take some great pictures, which I'll try to post later. (Note to self: post pictures!)
Have I talked about football yet? Saturday was one heckuva game! Seriously, we were NOT supposed to beat UTEP...they are a really good, undefeated team...well, they WERE undefeated until Saturday night. We took the kids to the Fair a few hours before the game, spent an ungodly amount of money on a few kiddie rides, and some really good food, then came the rain. The torrential downpour sent everyone scurrying into the nearby Pipkin building, in which people were packed tighter than sardines. It was so hot & stuffy in there, and Jacob was tired, cranky & whiney. We made our way to an exit in attempt to get some air and to see if the rain was starting to slack off. We noticed across the way a little booth selling rain panchos, and so we bought a few, at $2 a piece, which were by the way, thinner than the cheapest garbage bag. Upon taking them out of their packages and unfolding them, they ripped in several places, and we got wetter trying to put them on than just walking in the freaking rain. By the time, we got them on all 4 of us, the rain had pretty much stopped. The only time they came in handy was when we got to the stadium. The one remaining pancho that didn't self-mutilate was used to sit on so we wouldn't have to sit in a puddle of water. The game started about 40 minutes late due to the rain, which meant kickoff didn't take place 'til 7:40, and that combined with the fact that it was the longest game I'd ever been to, meant we didn't get in the bed until nearly 1 a.m. It was an awesome game though. The Tigers really showed up for this one and gave it their all and won. Deangelo had the best run of his whole career, running for a 74-yard touchdown. He ran left, he ran right, he even changes hands with the ball, and Billy...Billy Barefield, our 3rd string, freshman QB, getting his first start ever, helped by blocking one of UTEP's guys so Deangelo could keep running. It was the most awesome thing I've ever seen. You just had to be there to truly appreciate it. The last minute or so of the game, the score was tied, 20 - 20. UTEP had the ball, but there was an interception, we go the ball back, and some guy I'd never heard of until that night ran in for a touchdown, but he stepped out of bounds on the 8 yard line, and the refs reviewed the whole thing, so the score was still 20-20. But then, Deangelo got the touchdown anyway when he literally stretched his body across the field and put the ball just over into the endzone. Poor Travis & Jacob were just about asleep when those last few plays happened, and then we jumped out of our seats in jubilation, lol. Then we scored the extra point, and there was only like 30 seconds, if that, left in the game, so the game was over and we came away with the W. Final Score, 27-20. This coming Saturday, we take on UCF (Central Florida) at their place, another conference game. This one should be easily won, but then again, we don't really know much, if anything, about UCF, so we'll just say our prayers & cross our fingers.
