It's time for me to pack away the after-Christmas blues by stating WHAT A GREAT TIME IT IS TO BE A TIGER!!! Just this week, the football Tigers put away the Akron Zips in the Motor City Bowl in Detroit on Monday, (which, I am sicker than sick that we didn't end up getting to go afterall) and then the following day, the basketball Tigers beat Gonzaga by 11 points (which, I am kind of sick we didn't make that game either). Heh...can somebody say we zagged the Zips and zipped the Zags? We are projected by many expert sports analysts to be a number 1 seed in the Big Dance this year, which unless we get blown off the court by a bunch of mediocre schools within our conference, it is very likely we will go FAR in the Tournament. TONIGHT we take on Purdue, which I'm hopeful it'll be a fairly easy win. Back to football though, to sort of make up for not getting to travel to our bowl game this year, Michael was able to find out when the team would be landing in Memphis, and then went to the airport and used my new camera I got for Christmas to take pictures and even some video clips. I was jealous, to say the least, lol, but the kids were asleep and I wasn't about to drag the kids to the airport at 11 p.m., so I stayed home and watched my new Friends DVDs (got all 10 seasons for Christmas) while he went to the airport, and then I fell asleep on the couch and missed like 3 of his phone calls. When he came through the door though, he woke me up and I watched all the video he made, and saw the pictures he took. I am still a little depressed that we ended up not going to Detroit to see Deangelo Williams' last college game EVER, but when I really think about it, it's cool that I saw his first EVER college game, and his very last game at the Liberty Bowl. When I saw Deangelo's first game, I had no idea who he was...actually most people probably didn't know much about him at all, if anything...I didn't even LIKE football...I was just there with Michael just because, and now I own several memorabilia items that he autographed that are now worth a nice bit of money, and I get all teary-eyed at the very thought that he won't be back here next season! This may sound sappy and mushy to some people, but I cried at the end of his last game! And now everywhere you go, someone's talking about him, or he's doing a radio show somewhere, and it's so awesome because I'm always like "Hey, I KNOW him!" We even met his mother and step father many, many times at the tailgates. All I can really say now, whatever NFL team he ends up on, that will be our new favorite NFL team to cheer for (not that I personally have an NFL team currently). Thanks for the memories, not just to Deangelo, but to all the other Seniors that had such a great influence and impact on this team. You will be missed! GO TIGERS!
